About the story:

Well, about the stories in this case. This is a teaser book that shows nine more or less romantic stories from 9 authors who’s books will be published in the next few months or have already been published. What a brilliant idea! However it is so much more ~ but about that later.

This is a short overview over the stories:

1. Under the Mango Tree

2. Rolf’s Quest

Merlin has a descendant. And he has to lift the enchantment of him being trapped in the tree through finding true love.

3. Fall into Darkness

A nearly condemned Angel meets a girl who can see people’s death in their eyes. Where will this meeting lead?

4. Roses are wrong, Violets Taboo

Will Greenhouse owner Alexander get over his grandfather’s death and find love with Rose?

5. Alphabetical Disorder

Susie thinks she needs to abandon the one she loves because of a Romani prophecy that asks her to date in alphabetical order.

6. Love’s not viral

Hollywood actors can be strange. We all know that. But what happens when they take a picture of you and pretend to date you?

7. Taking the Plunge

Eve dropped ten dress sizes since high school and after leaving her boyfriend meets her old crush. Where can that lead?

8. The Trouble with Never

Summer leaves her violent husband and meets her high school sweetheart again. That can only spell trouble?

9. Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate

When an heiress of a chocolate empire is institutionalised it won’t be easy to help her. Will Chris?

About the Author:

I try to be as short as possible as of course there are nine authors. Still it is good to know even a little about them. For more go to their pages or buy the book which gives overviews to each story about their author.

Meredith is published both traditionally and indie and known for characters that you cannot easily forget. Besides writing her heart belongs to her family and teaching others to write. You can find out more about her on her webpage.

Aubrey Wynne

Aubrey’s passions are children and animals and she is an elementary school teacher by trade. She writes humorous short stories besides novels and you can find out more about her here.

Valerie Twombly

Valerie has always had a thing for creatures with fangs and was excited when she discovered paranormal romance. That is the genre she writes in now and creates strong and seductive characters. Find out more about her and her books on her author’s page.

Kris Calvert

Cupcake baking Kris has a passion for post-it notes, pearls and alliterations. The former copywriter needed a little pushing to start writing romance novels. You can find out how good she is at it on her page.

Katie Stephens

Since being retired Katie opened a box of partially finished stories, plays and musicals just to have her husband ask her when she really will retire. Hopefully not very soon because her stories are great. Find out more here.

Nessie Strange

Nessie a mother of two likes a good story and has tried everything from abstract painting to journalism. Now she is into writing and you can find our more on her page.

Kishan Paul

Isabella Harper

Michaela Miles

A few months ago Michaela was so kind to take part in “The Bee Talks With…” even though she is a busy lady: husband, three children, boss at her web design company and doing a BA of English Literature. Find out more about her books and herself here

Honey Bees in the book:

Now this book is full of very different stories. From the Indian girl who meets an English man to a woman fleeing her violent husband you can find trouble, romance, ingenuity and passion. They are teasers for their authors books but they are also fully fletched short stories which give you total reading pleasure all through the book. If I would have to chose a favourite I could not as they are so different. They kept me hooked even though I had trouble reading “The Trouble With Never” but that has simply to do with my own experiences of violence in a relationships and nothing with the quality of the story.

A great book and I will come back to read the stories time and time again.

Stinging Bees in the book

Only stinging bee I can find is: I want more and as soon as I can I will

And the mead of it all?

If you love short stories and romance then this is a great gift for you. Brilliantly written stories full of suspense and characters that speak to your heart no matter from which experience you come from. So entertaining!

For those who don’t already know, Nitro is my guide dog!
😀
So here goes!

The day I met you
The day you bounced into my life and my world
Was October 26th 2012
You were turning 2 years old the day before
I bought you a badge to hang around your neck
It said worlds best birthday boy on it
You melted my heart
You were so cute
The way you hold your lead in your mouth
Telling me you want to go for a walk
Your waggly tail
Your soulful eyes
Your warm fur as I rub it gently
Makes me feel so amazing
The day I met you
Is a day I will cherish
Forever

Love Is In Da Blog 27 ~ My favourite Love Song from a Film & Prompt Post for February 28th

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, so glad you are still sharing such gorgeous songs and I hope you enjoy these last two days of Love Is In Da Blog. WOW, only one day more and March is here. Where is all that time gone?

I am asking myself the same when it comes to my music choice today. The film I want to feature is 1994’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral” which introduced me to a new English expression: It’s the F… word and that film is the reason why for many years I never realised how rude it is. Well, my bad ;-).

I loved it and saw it several times in the cinema. I was in my second year of studying social work and didn’t only love this comedy because it had great humour but also because they depicted deaf and gay characters. I am sure there have been films before which did that but I never saw a comedy that did it in such a loving way. If this “Love Is In Da Blog” would be about poetry I would choose to showcase Auden’s “Funeral Blues” which made me a life-long Auden fan (who would have known that I moved into an area where he went to school). But it is about music so it’s going to be “Chapel of Love” which is of course not Elton John’s song but I love his version in the film.

And I love the credits of the film where “Chapel of Love” is played and whenever I hear the song I think of all those couples who made it, in the end, may it be in reality or in fantasy ;-). That video probably makes no sense to anyone who hasn’t seen the film but hey, just enjoy the song then!!!!

Love Is In Da Blog 26 ~ My favourite Love Song from a Musical & Prompt Post for February 27th

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, can you believe it we are nearly at the end of our musical discovery of love. So today we are in for some musicals and the one I chose is “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

It is, of course, “I don’t know how to love him” and Yvonne Elliman’s version. I won’t make a long post today even though I could again go into the feminist topic. No, I only share with you a memory that’s connected with the song: I met the best husband (Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world at the supermarket where we used to work. He worked in a different department than me but he had to walk along mine very often. I watched him walk by and wanted him so much but at the same time didn’t think it was a good idea to jump from one (not well going ) relationship to another.

So I watched him go by and sang to myself:

I don’t know how to love him
What to do, how to move him
I’ve been changed yes really changed
In these past few days when I’ve seen myself
I seem like someone else

I don’t know how to take this
I don’t see why he moves me
He’s a man he’s just a man
And I’ve had so many men before
In very many ways he’s just one more…

Jesus Christ Superstar – Don’t Know How To Love Him Lyrics | MetroLyrics

Now, don’t get me wrong: I didn’t have many men before him but the questions were the same: How do I get my head around what I feel for him which I never felt for any other man and at that point, I didn’t know if he was into me too. He was a man just a man … in very many ways he’s just one more… would he treat me badly too or ignored my realities of abuse? Is he just another one of those…

It was a very emotional time but in the end, it worked out well. We both had to do some emotional work to get our relationship working but it will be nine years this year that we are together and I can honestly say he is not just one more 🙂 !

Hope you enjoy it!

Love Is In Da Blog 25 ~ My favourite Love Song from an Opera & Prompt Post for February 26th

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, what awesome music you have shared. It is amazing how much beautiful music is out there.

Yesterday I asked you to choose your favourite love song from an opera. And as often, the case I do cheat a little ;-).

The song I chose is not considered a love song. In fact, it’s rather the opposite. I am talking about “The Magic Flute”, one of my favourite opera’s, and the Queen of the Nights aria. Now, if you are not familiar with “The Magic Flute” here is a short summary. Sarastro a servant of light and wisdom has taken the Queen of the Night’s daughter Pamina captive and she tries to persuade Prince Tamino to save her. Turns out Sarastro isn’t the baddie but the Queen who tried to make Pamina assassinate Sarastro. This is where she sings her aria “Der Hoelle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen…” (The rage of hell is burning in my heart).

Now in traditional explanation, the Queen of the Night symbolises everything bad (probably many emotions) and the cult of Sarastro the victory of logic and enlightenment. I have always found it rather irritating that the mature woman was considered a bad influence as well as the idea that only logic will save the day. In my opinion, we can see today more than ever how logic and science have gone awry with climate change and capitalism. To me, the Queen of the Night Aria symbolises the rage over not being taken seriously, being abused and often simply ignored that many women feel but still are not able to express. The Queen of the Night is a powerful lady and it seems that power in women is still a scary concept. She is enraged and she expresses it powerfully:

The vengeance of Hell boils in my heart,
Death and despair flame about me!
If Sarastro does not through you feel
The pain of death,
Then you will be my daughter nevermore.
Disowned may you be forever,
Abandoned may you be forever,
Destroyed be forever
All the bonds of nature,
If not through you
Sarastro becomes pale! (as death)
Hear, Gods of Revenge,
Hear a mother’s oath!

But this whole opera also symbolises to me what might be our problem: There is only light or dark, two opposites that can’t be brought together. However, if you look into life there are all sorts of grey in between light and dark: Hitler was a vegetarian and loved his dogs deeply and Gandhi didn’t treat his wife always that nice. I said it before, that I believe if we don’t develop the ability to see the darkness inside of ourselves and acknowledge that we are beings of light and darkness we won’t be able to bring peace and a liveable future to this planet.

So, I believe this aria, in fact, is a song about self-love, about the acknowledgement of rage, personal power and healthy boundaries as well as natures rage about our misuse of natural resources and out of balance lifestyle. However, it might be that the union of Tamino and Pamina shows that Mozart was aware of all the grey and the necessary duality of humankind.

Love Is In Da Blog 24 ~ My favourite Love Song in a Foreign Language & Prompt Post for February 25th

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, we are not only travelling in time but also in space with “Love Is In Da Blog”. Today we are inspired to share our favourite love song in a foreign language and while I thought yesterday I would choose a Swedish one I haven’t in the end. I figured all the Swedish artists and their songs I like are in English but I have a current Icelandic love song that just makes me sigh.

It is Kaleo’s “Vor í Vaglaskógi” which means “Spring in Vagla Wood”. I could not find out much more about the song besides that is is an Icelandic love song from the 1960s and so I just give it to you today without much explanation. Please switch on the subtitles for the English translation. Find out more about Kaleo here and an interview with the band here.

Love Is In Da Blog 23 ~ My Favourite Song from the Country I love the most & Prompt Post for February 24h

Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen, it is an honour to spend a musical love month with you!

I asked you yesterday to find a song from the country you love the most. As I mentioned before I find it a little difficult because I am not a fan of patriotism. But each to their own 😉 . Surprisingly, neither Germany where I was born nor Great Britain where I live now fall in the category of “Country I love the most”. The Uk used to be the one until that fateful day in June 2016 when a tiny majority of British people decided that I account for a scrounger and problem in this country and that leaving the EU will solve all their problems.

Sorry for my bitter statement, if you voted for leave. I do respect your decision even though I do not understand it and believe you have been cheated. It’s just how I feel about this country and that part of the citizens who voted to leave.

So which country would qualify? Well, it is both Ireland and Sweden but as we have the “love song in a foreign language” tomorrow today will be Ireland. It captured my heart ever since I set foot in it for the first time in 1991 and I hope I can go back one day.

I have posted several songs by Irish musician Hozier over the last couple of years and the song I chose today is a newer one called “Nina Cried Power” which is a love song and dedication to great musicians like Nina Simone and Marvin Gay but also the movements of social change their music inspired and supported.

I find it is a very powerful song that has given me a lot of solace in the last few months when Brexit, Trumps Wall and the rise of the political right and populists all over the world has threatened my very sanity and hope for humankind. I have to admit until today I haven’t really researched the story behind the song nor read its lyrics. It’s the melody and lines like “It’s not the waking, it’s the rising…” that seemed to have given me a push into putting my money where my mouth is and to become more active.

And it looks like my reaction to this song and video without knowing much about it fits in perfectly with its intention as Shona.ie states:

…In case you haven’t see it yet, Hozier’s new single “Nina Cried Power” is a powerful celebration of some of the amazing people who are creating change in Ireland. These people, who all dedicate their time and energy to equality, civil rights, social equity and diversity, and the work they do will benefit all of us…”

I have always admired people who were able to create positive social change either with their writing or their actions and leadership. It is reading and learning about them that lead the way for me to not succumb to negativity and the pain inside. It is so easy to hurt others because you have been hurt and I have done my fair share of it. Sorry, to all whom I have caused pain!

But in the end, I have chosen love and life and positivity and if I can shine a small beacon of hope in someone’s life then I haven’t lived for nothing.

If you want to know more about the song have a look at Shone.ia “The Story behind Hozier’s “Nina Cried Power” Video” and Latinamericanpost’s “Nina Cried Power: Hozier is back!“. You can find the lyrics here and more about the artist here.

Love Is In Da Blog 20 ~ A Love Song for our Pets & Prompt Post for February 21th

Thank you very much ladies and gentlemen, for giving the “Love Is In Da Blog ~ Music Festival” a go and even run with the prompts that do not come easily to you. I appreciate this a lot!!!!

Yesterday I asked you to find a song for your pet and just share any song if you are not into pets (sorry if that sounds iffy 😉 ).

I have been pondering that prompt for a week now and the only song that comes to mind is Gilbert O’Sullivan’s “Claire”. I love the romantic melody. To me, it is one of the “happy songs” that instantly raise my mood and the lyrics express a lot that I/we feel for our rescue greyhound Sherky.

Description for visually impaired readers: Side of black greyhound with grey lead on sandy beach. It’s shadow stretches ahead

However,  I do get a little irritated with the beginning of the song where it is not quite clear if it is about a girl or a grown woman. You could not publish a song like that nowadays or at least I wouldn’t.

But meeting children has a life-changing influence on us and I believe it was not written with any unsavoury intentions. When reading up on him I found out that he is married since 1980 and has two daughters. I think keeping a marriage alive being in the music business is quite an achievement and so I am happy to dedicate this song to Sherky 🙂

LOVE IS IN DA BLOG MUSIC PROMPT FOR FEBRUARY 21st

Ah, my dears we are nearly at the end of “Love Is In Da Blog 2019” and I am grateful for all who are taking part and enjoy the event. Ladies and Gentlemen you rock!!!!

Looks like I have a hand for controversial prompts as the “Queer” prompt on Sunday suggests. And tomorrows might be another

Find a Love Song about God’s Love

Not everybody is into spirituality or even religion, however, I believe that love and music is at the heart of all religions it is just what some followers make out of the religion that has more to do with power and suppressing others. So please, if you do not feel comfortable with this prompt chose any love song that takes your fancy.

Thanks for going on this musical journey of love with me!!!!!

Love Is In Da Blog 19 ~ My Favourite Wedding Song & Prompt Post for February 20th

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen and I am so glad you are celebrating with me!!! Your input and your love songs are appreciated!

Yesterday, I asked you to share your favourite wedding song but I have to admit I do not have a favourite wedding song. However, I think that love and marriage go together as I said yesterday so here we go.

Which song would I like to be “our” song or “our wedding” song???? Well, that is a bit tricky because the best husband (Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world’s and my music taste is not particularly similar. There are, however, three artists that we both like and who just released a song together: Sia, Rihanna and David Guetta and guess what? It is called “Say Yes”. How fitting is that???

It’s a dance song, I can’t find the lyrics anywhere and so “just” give you the song and hope you enjoy it!

There are many forms of love and love for our pets is one of them. Do you have a song that expresses that love? Please share it with us.

And if you do not have pets or even don’t like them: Just share any love song you like. There is enough for all of us 😉

And to remind ourselves how to take part:

“Love Is In Da Blog” Rules/suggestions

      1. Join in! No matter where, when and with what. You missed the first day or week? Don’t worry. Just jump in when it suits you.
      2. Send us the link! The ping-back option does not always work so please leave a link in the comments of the post on the day you take part.
      3. Tag your post either with “Love Is In Da Blog” or “LoIsInDaBl” or “Love Is In Da Blog 19” or #LoIsInDaBl19. You can also use these as hashtags for Twitter and other Social Networks to give your post more exposure.
      4. No matter which music the prompt favours you create with it whatever you please, and whatever length you please (no pun intended 😉 ) as long as it is about “LOVE.”
      5. I post the prompt post the day before which is connected with the music for that day so you have some time to make up your mind and create your post. There won’t be two different posts and I hope it’s not too confusing.
      6. If you like, use this picture for your readers to find the posts.
      7. Find the prompt list for the whole month here in this introduction post at the end

Description for visually impaired readers: Illustration of three trees with differently coloured canopies to left. To middle big black writing saying: Love Is In Da Blog 2019

Now go,

and have lots of fun
