Invitation to a year-long challenge

In December, I have started a musical journey all over the world on Mondays. There are music universes out there that we know nothing of because we tend to listen to our own countries music mostly.

Now that β€œLove Is In Da Blog 2020” comes to an end I am wondering if other bloggers want to take part in my world-wide musical blog tour. It is so great to check out other bloggers music choices and it would be wonderful if I have some help to find great music from other countries. Can I entice you to take part?

If so, check out my “Come Away With Me Musical Challenge” and find out more.

If not, happy blogging, happy music listening and happy 2020

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 28: A love song that contains color & Prompt for Day 29

Hello out there, how are you? I hope you are well and life is giving you only diamonds and no rust. But if there is any rust… upcycle the experience πŸ˜‰ .

Can you believe it? We are nearly finished with “Love Is In Da Blog 2020”! Time flew by in good company and with lovely music. Thanks so much for your participation!!! You rock!!!

Barbara gave us today’s prompt and it is:

A love song that contains color

Please head over to her wonderful blog and check it out: Teleporting Weena

I had to use a song that puzzled me for ages. When I was working at the supermarket, they had music playing. I recognised most music but this one I could not. It always made move to its rhythm and melody and I asked countless people: “Do you know who sings this song?”. Then it turned up in an advert and it nearly drove me crazy because I really liked the song. It’s different. It has rhythm and Laura Mvula has such an interesting voice. Then a couple of months ago I googled “green garden song” and alas up it came.

So here we go a love song with a colour. Please enjoy and if it does not play here on the blog follow the link underneath to its YouTube location. Have fun!!!!

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 27: Find a song about love in autumn & Prompt for Day 28

Hello out there, dear people of the blogosphere. How are you doing? I hope your life rocks and rolls in a happy tune and if challenges arise that you have support around you. Feel the love coming your way!

Today’s prompt is by me and I challenged you to find a love song that is connected with autumn. I have chosen a Ukrainian singer called Ani Lorak. If you are a Eurovision Song Contest fan then you might have come across her because she participated in 2008. She is one of the most successful women in Ukraine and used to be a UN Goodwill Ambassador. Please find out more about her here on Wikipedia and enjoy her song “Autumn Love”. As always follow the link underneath the video if it does not play here on the blog.

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 26: A love song that charted in the Top 10 or better & Prompt for Day 27

Hello out there in the blogosphere, how are you? I hope you are well and if not that you get all the help you need. Feel embraced by healing energy.

Today’s prompt is by Jim and is:

A love song that charted in the Top 10 or better

Please head over to Jim’s Blog β€œA Unique Title for me” and cheer him on on his music history journey. Thanks!

Sorry, dear readers and fellow bloggers if my posts are a little short-handed currently. It turned out that I have breast cancer, and I have to get through several examinations. Unfortunately, the hospital isn’t close by (yes, there are disadvantages living in the middle of nowhere πŸ˜‰ ) and they try to get me in as fast as they can so they often call and ask if I can come in at that day because they had a cancellation.

You can imagine that I take as many as I can to get to a point where they know everything and can start treating the bugger. But I have to be very flexible, and I have to admit I find that a little difficult. So far, I am holding up well. I want to maintain as positive an attitude as I can because I believe that is important to beat cancer.

A big thank you at this point to the best husband in the world, my employer and my family and friends who are so, so, so supportive. I am rolling to this new journey on a wave of positive energy that comes my way from all over the world, and that means much to me.

That is why I dedicate this song to all of you who keep me in your prayers in your thoughts. I appreciate this a lot!

And just to make sure it fits the prompt, here is what Wikipedia says about it: “It was a Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit for the duo for two consecutive weeks in 1973“. Please follow the link underneath the video if it does not play here on the blog.

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 25: Find a pop song about love & Prompt for Day 26

Hi peeps, how are you doing? I hope you are doing well and if life throws you a curve ball that you have enough chocolate to beat the challenge into submission.

Can you believe it we are nearly through the whole month of February? Big changes for me as I told you yesterday but such a great musical festival here on “Love Is In Da Blog”. Thank you so much to all of you who have made it such a fun, entertaining and educational event!!!! You rock!

Thanks Barbara for today’s promp:

Find a pop song about love

Please head over to her intriguing blog β€œTeleporting Weena” and pay her a compliment or two. Thanks.

I might be a little behind when it comes to modern artists. At least when it comes to a music project called “Owl City” by multi-instrumentalist Adam Young. Apparently, young Mr Young πŸ˜‰ is active since 2007 and has created music for films like Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, Wreck-It Ralph, The Croods, VeggieTales & Smurfs 2. That is quite impressive isn’t it?

It says on the “About” page of “Owl City”: Following the release of 2015’s Mobile Orchestra, he took a step back from Owl City and devoted 2016 to releasing one instrumental score per month, simply as β€œAdam Young,” basing each song off of a favorite historical event. These spanned Apollo 11, RMS Titanic, The Spirit of St. Louis, The Ascent of Everest, Omaha Beach, Miracle in the Andes, Project Excelsior, Corduroy Road, Voyager 1, Mount Rushmore, and The Endurance. This exercise earmarked something of a creative turning point. I had no chance yet to check his instrumentals out but am rather excited to explore those. What a great idea to base music on historic events! I love it!

The song I have chosen is called “Fireflies” and I have no idea how I found it. It just popped up in one of my searches on YouTube and I found it so intriguing that I chose it for today’s prompt. It has apparently for two non-consecutive weeks topped the Bilboard Hot 100 and was in the charts in Europe but I can’t remember ever hearing it. The song was on Owl City’s debut album “Ocean Eyes” which came out in 2009 and is featured in several video games.

Enough information for now. Just sit back and enjoy a great song and if it doesn’t play here on the blog, follow the link underneath.

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 24: A love song that contains a location & Prompt for Day 25

Hello out there dear readers of “The Bee Writes…” and “Love Is In Da Blog” Bloggers. Hope you are having a cracking day and if not feel surrounded by positive energy coming from me.

Today we follow another brilliant prompt from Paula:

A love song that contains a location. Thanks Paula!!!!

Please head over to Paula’s blog β€œLight Motifs II” and give her some love.

Sigh. There are things in life that you just get wrong time and time again. One of mine is mixing up two German actresses and singers. One is Marlene Dietrich, the other Hilde Knef. I just wrote a whole blogpost about Hilde Knef until I double-checked the video and saw that I should actually be writing about Marlene Dietrich.

So please forgive me if today’s post will be a little short again on the information side of things. I suspect many of you know Marlene Dietrich, and if not, please find some information about her on Wikipedia. I love Berlin even though I would not want to live in a city again. But my year there just after the wall came down was exciting, and I loved every bit of it. In the end, I figured though that I am more of a country bumkin and prefer to live as far away from lots of people as I can.

This song is called “Ich hab noch einen Koffer in Berlin” which means “I still have a suitcase in Berlin”. It plays with the image of the suitcase in Berlin, and that is why the singer has to go back. It also plays with innuendos of a romantic relationship, and it is one of the most famous songs about Berlin in German. And… to get a little of my reputation back: Hilde Knef sang it too :-)…

And as always please follow the link underneath the video to its YouTube location, if it does not play here on the blog.

“Ich hab noch einen Koffer in Berlin” Translation via LyricsTranslate

It’s wonderful in Paris on the Rue Madleen

It’s beautiful in Rome in May to walk through the city

Or a summer night drinking wine silently in Vienna

Yet when you all laugh, too I think about Berlin today

I still have a suitcase in Berlin

Therefore I muss go back soon

The blisses of times passed

They are all still in this small suitcase

Inside I still have a suitcase in Berlin

That remains so, too and that has it’s reasoning

In the meadow, it’s worth the trip

And if I have yearning, then I drive back in again

I still have a suitcase in Berlin

I still have a suitcase in Berlin

Therefore I muss go back soon

The blisses of times passed

They are all still in this small suitcase Inside

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 23 : A song about love in summer & Prompt for Day 24

Hello out there, you ok? I very much hope so and if not: Please go and rock and roll πŸ˜‰

Sorry, for having kept my posts a little small recently. Today’s will be a little longer but the prompt is still not enormous πŸ˜‰ .

Today’s prompt simply is: “A song about love in summer

I chose a singer who seems to be rather famous in Africa but from Jamaica. Her name is Denique Donte who started her career at 11 or 12 at the Jamaican National Festival Song Competitions at which she won several medals. Later she was offered a scholarship to Berklee School of Music in Boston but couldn’t take it up because of lack of funds. I would have thought a scholarship means you are supported but am not sure how it works for students from abroad.

However, she found mentors and management in Jamaica and forged a career in pop music. Yes, Jamaica is more famous for reggae but surely there are Jamaican’s who like other music too? Well, Denique does and her song “Summer Love” reminds me a lot of the pop songs in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Light like a summer love this song is what I call “Happy Music”. That is because it just makes you hum and dance a little… Please enjoy Denique and “Summer Love”!

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 22 : A love song from the year we started school & Prompt for Day 23

Hi dear people of the blogosphere, may you have a wonderful day today!!!!

Let’s get down memory lane today and find a song about:

A love song from the year we started school

I still can’t figure why I chose this school theme throughout this β€œLove Is In Da Blog” but hey, let’s roll with it anyway πŸ™‚ .

Have to admit that I didn’t do much research. 1977 is too foggy in my mind to remember anything so I just looked up a list of the Top 100 tracks in Germany in 1977 and one of my all-time favourite love songs popped up: Leo Sayer and “When I need you…”. No need for comment is there????? πŸ˜‰

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 21 : Find a song with love & flowers & Prompt for Day 22

Good Day dear people of the blogosphere, how are you rolling? I hope happily along a beach or your favourite path instead of any challenge. But if you are not so lucky, get yourself a mug of your favourite hot beverage, a cookie and feel the love coming your way.

Please bear with me if I am not answering your comments today or visit your blogs. Life has thrown me another challenge this year. This afternoon I will find out more about what sort of cancer is growing in me. I will either have to go through more examinations (already had a CT, MRI and bone scan) or what treatment will be the best.

The suspicion is primary breast cancer but they found the cells by accident so checked other possibilities to be sure. You can imagine that I am slightly pre-occupied at the moment. I’ll keep you updated and am grateful for prayers and good vibes πŸ˜‡.

Not an easy way to get back from the big C to #LoveIsInDaBlog so it’s simply:

Today’s intriguing prompt is from Barbara:

Find a song with love & flowers. Thanks Barbara!!!!!

Please head over to her wonderful blog β€œTeleporting Weena” and find out more about her and her interests.

I have to admit I had trouble with this one even though I am sure there is no lack of flowery love songs out there. Luckily I was checking out an old favourite of mine Yusuf Islam the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens. And guess what? He brought out a new album and one song is called “All kind of roses”. Well, I don’t know if it is that new but it’s new to me πŸ™‚ .

I know that he fell out of favour with many when he converted to Islam and did not take his comments about the fatwa against Salman Rushdie as serious as they needed to be taken. To me, he is still a great artist and I love his songs for the humanity they always showed. And this song is a celebration of love and all good things in life.

All Kinds Of Roses” via A-Z Lyrics

All kinds of roses, all kinds of roses
All kinds of roses grow in my garden
All kinds of creatures, all kinds of creatures
All kinds of creatures run on my land

All kinds of children, all kinds of children
All kinds of children play in my yard
So many feelings, so many feelings flow through my blood

All kinds of people, all kinds of people
All kinds of people make up my life
All kinds of faces, all kinds of faces
All kinds of faces show me their love

All kinds of lanterns, all kinds of lanterns
All kinds of lanterns light up the dark
But there’s only one God, only one God has a place in my heart

All kinds of roses, all kinds of roses
All kinds of roses grow in my garden

Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 20 : A love that hurts, a breakup or heartbreak & Prompt for Day 21

Hello out there, dear people of the blogosphere. How are you doing? I very much hope that life is treating you well and if not rest assured that my thoughts and prayers go out to you!

Today’s prompt might or might not be a sad one. Jim gave it to us and it is:

A love that hurts, a breakup or heartbreak. Thanks Jim!

Please head over to Jim’s blog A Unique Title For Me to stay and enjoy informative music posts.

Again I made my musical way outside the Western world music arena and stumbled over an artist who those who watched the Special Olympics in Abu Dabhi in 2019 might recognise. Her name is Assala Nasri. She was born in Syria but gained much success in Egypt, Bahrain her new home and all over the Middle East.

She was criticised on her stance over the Syrian Civil war: From the beginning, she was against Bashar Al Assad even though his father authorized her treatment for polio. She, however, is a humanitarian and wants the war ended to stop the suffering of the people of Syria.

The song I chose fits the prompt for heartbreak (I think…) as it tells the story of a woman who has fallen for an egotistic man even though she is a “classy” girl. I loved the video from the beginning even though it is not a particularly sad one, I find. But what’s better against heartache than to move your hips?????

Have fun with this beautiful video πŸ™‚

As always, please follow the link underneath the video if it doesn’t play here on the blog.

A classy girl

Lyrics via LyricsTranslate

he is being egoist and he brags about himself ,

continues with being stubborn and impatient

and I am from a classy family

and I am a classy girl,

and one of the most beautiful girls among my people

Oh God he is so handsome,

everyone talks about him

like a flower that grew up

before the season without watering and plantingΒ

oh father, his beauty is a long story ,

like a sweet grape drink quenches the thirst

and I was thirsty ,

I followed my heart with my eyes closed

and went to him even though we are not the same,

but he is my destiny and my karma

and because he didn’t leave me alone,

I complained to his people and they don’t care

Β he is egoist and that is making it so hard for me

apparently he doesn’t know who I am

and my family is like one hundred family all together

everyone here calls me the classy girl ,

very famous in the society

but I am tired now and because of him

I carry all this sorrow

like a hundred family all together
