Liebster Award from Gail

Looks like I take this week to catch up on all the challenges I was awarded this year. Yesterday I finished a story for Barbara’s “Tell a Story” challenge which was rather fun and today I follow Gail’s invitation for “The Liebster Award”. Thanks Gail, you rock!!!!

I have been awarded the “Liebster Award” before and am grateful that other bloggers feel my scribbling is worth mentioning ๐Ÿ˜‰ . . Let’s remind ourselves of the rules.

The rules:
Acknowledge the blogger that gave it to you and display the award.
Answer 11 questions that the blogger gave you.
Give 11 random thoughts about yourself.
Nominate 11 other bloggers and notify them of their nomination.
Ask your nominees 11 questions.
โ€œThis award is meant to encourage new bloggers. From The Global Aussie: โ€œThe earliest case of the award goes as far back as 2011. Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.โ€

Here are Gail’s questions:

Questions for the Nominees:

1. Who told you about God?
2. Do you have a favorite Bible verse?
3. How longโ€™s it been since you used a landline?
4. What is your blog about?
5. How long have you had your blog?
6. What was your last post about?
7. Have you been baptized?
8. Do you have a favorite flower?
9. Is there something I could pray about for you?
10. What kind of books do you like to read?
11. What season is it for you where you live?

My answers:

1. Who told you about God?

That would have been my mother, I guess. She said a good night prayer with me from a very early age on. My parents weren’t religious in the sense that they went to church or were actively part of a religious community. However, they believed it was important to experience the main religion in our country. We said praise for our food and went to church at Christmas, for funerals and christenings. But I got rather involved in the protestant church in the village I grew up in and while I am not part of a church now and have my misgivings with some Christians I am very grateful for the protection Christianity and the church has given me as a youngster. I would not be alive without them and my godmother, grandmother and my friends.

2. Do you have a favorite Bible verse?

My goodness, it’s a long time since I thought or read a bible verse. Whenย  myย  mum passed away someone gave me a card with Isiah 66,13 on it: As a mother comforts her son, so I will comfort you!” The German translation is slightly different but it helped a lot. I guess this is the one ๐Ÿ™‚

3. How longโ€™s it been since you used a landline?

I got a call on Monday evening

4. What is your blog about?

Now that is a very good question: life, poetry, my pet peeve Brexit, photography, music, enlightening YouTube videos, self-care, mental health… you take a pick ๐Ÿ˜‰

5. How long have you had your blog?

I started this one last year in April I think but I had several (nearly 20 LOL) before that. I started blogging back in 2009.

6. What was your last post about?

One of my poems called “Call me Sister”

7. Have you been baptized?

yes

8. Do you have a favorite flower?

Roses and Sunflowers

9. Is there something I could pray about for you?

I rather tell you that in private ๐Ÿ™‚ but thanks a lot you think of me.

10. What kind of books do you like to read?

Fantasy and Crime novels (and pretty much everything else too ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

11. What season is it for you where you live?

It is nearly spring. Hurray!

11 Answers & 11 Questions

September 2018

I published this one on my old blog in March for the first time so if I nominated you then and you already have done your post don’t worry about doing it again :-). But if you like to do it again: I come and visit your blog anyway :-)!

March 2018

The lovely lady over at “What if we all Cared” has kindly nominated me for the Liebster Award a couple of weeks ago. I forgot all about it with all that’s going on around here but better late than never as they say.

So firstly: THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the nomination, “whatifweallcared”!!!!! It is much appreciated.

Then Secondly:

Then Thirdly:

If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which the Rules are simple as follows:

  1. Acknowledge the blog who nominated you.
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator asked.
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers.
  4. Ask them 11 questions.
  5. Let them know you have nominated them.

Ah, I give up on the counting ;-). Here are my answers though:

1. Where were you born?

I was born in Germany, in a little village in the south called Steinheim. Now there are supposedly 7 Steinheim’s which literally translated means “Stonehome” but the one I hail from is also am Albuch. I am not quite sure but I think that means “at the Beech forest” and there was certainly lots of forest and beeches there. One of my favourite trees by the way.

2. What has been your favorite pet and why?

Our rescue greyhound Shirky, because she is quirky, stubborn, runs like the wind and is just adorable!

3. Do you work . . if so, where (being a full-time mommy counts as work btw)?

I am in work for another day and then actively looking for a new job

4. If you could go exploring anywhere where would that be?

Exploring? Hmmm, good question. If I could go to Narnia or Middle Earth I’d be rather happy to explore but as I can’t I think Norway, New Zealand and Iceland would do ๐Ÿ˜‰

5. Your biggest regret?

I have none. Regrets are useless and keep us from moving forward.

6. How many siblings do you have? What are your thoughts on that number?

I have one brilliant little brother who isn’t so little anymore ;-). He used to be the number one in the family but I don’t think he enjoyed it.ย

7. What decade do you really belong in?

My theory is I should have been born ten years earlier and in the UK. Ten years earlier would have been 1960 :-).

8. Would you rather live in the Arctic or Antarctic Circle?

Arctic (maybe I could find the golden compass ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

9. What is your favorite artistic medium?

Definitely my blog. Does that count? If not photography.

10. Camping or hotels?

Camping no question!

11. Favourite school subject?

It would be better to ask me my least favourite which was maths and sports. I loved English, German, history, biology, Chemistry, physics, art, music. Not sure we had anything else. Oh, Social science…

Now comes the nominating bit. Well, I know many bloggers do not do Awards anymore and shortly I have pondered not to nominate anyone. But I’ve decided it is nice to be chosen. Also leaving the taking part open usually doesn’t encourage anyone to actually take part. That is why I will nominate and leave it to the individual blogger to decide if they want to take part. But pleaseย go and visit them anyway because all of them do a gorgeous job!

  1. A Tangle of Weeds
  2. Baydreamer
  3. Cookiehobby
  4. Cookies & Moo
  5. Frog ‘N Yankee
  6. I didn’t have my glasses on…
  7. J’Dubs Grin & Bear it
  8. My Inner Mishmash
  9. Therapybits
  10. On Dragonflywings with Buttercup Tea

  1. Where do you blog from?
  2. What is your motto (for life, your blog, your work… whichever you choose)?
  3. What is your favourite blog post (yes please choose your own ๐Ÿ™‚ )?
  4. Coffee or tea?
  5. What is your favourite foreign recipe?
  6. What is your favourite animation (sorry I have a thing for animations at the moment and need some input ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
  7. And as we are on it: What is your favourite movie?
  8. If you had the power to change the world, what would you change?
  9. Tell us three of your strengths!
  10. Tell us your preferred way of pampering yourself!
