#JusJoJan experiences Serendipity

So Jill suggested “Serendipity” for the “JusJoJan” prompt today. Please head over to her blog and enjoy yourself. You won’t regret it!!!

I love the word “serendipity”. It is one of the most beautiful words in the English language and reminds me of apples, an open fire and dipping your finger in honey. (What you do with that dipped finger is up to your imagination 😜).

The Oxford Dictionaries however do not talk in any way about food when it comes to “serendipity”. According to them it is “the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

Of course, if you want to bake an apple pie but don’t have an oven, sugar or apples my explanation might be the occurrence of beneficial events and all that jazz and chance.

You still need some butter and flour though, thinking of it. If you lack that you need some more chance occurrences and such.

I am a little lost now. Lost in translation and memories and apple pie recipes. So I better leave you here and hope good old serendipity leads you to less eccentric posts 😎.

#SoCS and #JusJoJan watch TV

Television, TV or Telly…. too vast a field I would say πŸ˜‰

I used to love watching the tv. My parents and grandparents wound me up with saying “you’ll get square eyes if you keep watching so much TV”. Mind you judging from today’s point of view it probably wasn’t that much. There were only 4 or 5 TV channels and at midnight the programs ended. How did we survive without watching TV 24 hours a day?????

Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end as Mary Hopkin famously sang in the late ’60s. I was just a twinkle in the eye of my parents then. They might not even have met yet. Who knows. All I know is that in late 1970 I wasn’t particularly keen on coming into being.

According to my parents, I was a week late and my mother played cards all night to get me going. Maybe that is the reason why I am so interested in Tarot nowadays ;-). But I digress…

I still like watching TV. Normal TV that is. Yes, I do stream some stuff but not much. Even though I am rather annoyed at times when there is absolutely nothing to watch. We are no fans of “TOWIE” or the like. We don’t approve of any of the talents shows (well besides GBBO) and there is only so much news that you can watch.

One thing that I thought a lot of in the last couple of weeks is how much advertising is brainwashing us. It is of course known how they work with psychology to get us buying stuff but as long as I had some money to buy things I never really paid much attention to the fact.

But working in a supermarket and knowing the reality compared to their adverts and not having much money to buy stuff taught me that no matter how entertaining adverts can be they have only one thing in mind: To make us buy stuff. Quite often to buy stuff we really don’t need and to make us think that normal daily activities are the peak of inconvenience or that we are too stupid to know how to care for ourselves.

Do you know that toothpaste advert where the girl tells you all about what how she takes care of her body but doesn’t know how to take care of her mouth????? I have started to shout out in frustration: “Clean your teeth, woman!!!”

Or the poor people who have to wash clothes????

Blimey, where on earth do they buy their washing powder and stain remover from? From the Stone Giants in “The Hobbit”? As I said: when I had enough money to buy stuff it never occurred to me how obvious and stupidly advertisers try to get us to buy stuff. But lately, it really gets on nerves. Good that the TV has a switch off button πŸ˜‰

What I currently enjoy watching is any educational program about history. Good old BBC might be a little propagandistic when it comes to their news (a lot less than other stations I find though) but when it comes to teaching us a thing or two about dinosaurs or the celts they are tops in my opinion.

And that is when I go all modern and use these newfangled things like streaming apps. The BBC iPlayer has saved my sanity more than once. Especially when I’ve been driven mad by my biggest pet peeve Brexit. That is one reason for me to stop watching TV altogether. But I am not going there. Have been ranting enough this week about it.

Well, I am off to make tea or dinner or Abendbrot whatever you call it in your neck of the woods. We eat early. The best husband (Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world has to work on Saturdays and I am German and supposedly we are good wives so I have food ready when he comes home just before 5pm. Some say ( πŸ˜‰ )

it is healthy to not eat a lot later in the evening. If you do, it gives you rings around the waist and insomnia. Not sure that is true. Both of us often can’t sleep and my hips have grown a tad or two lately. Never mind… πŸ˜‰ I am sure the adverts can sell me a powder to lose it again…

In this sense: Happy Television watching!!!!

Companionship – A #JusJoJan Post

Oh dear. This brain and mind of mine works in mysterious ways:

First thing that came to mind about “companionship” was ” What a lovely old-fashioned expression” and directly afterwards “Ring”. I mean THE ring to rule us all – (oh NO – Note to self: I need to remember I am NOT living in Middle Earth (even though there is a Rivendell close by 😁)).

But it somehow sounded wrong ” The Companionship of the Ring”. I wreacked my brain. I consulted my memory. Then I retreated to the net and guess what?

It is wrong!

“Fellowship of the Ring” it was. But I have to admit “The Companionship of the Ring” sounds a lot more inclusive, don’t you agree?

The word “Fellows” bring a group of more or less dubious looking men to mind while “Companionship” reminds of old couples and pets. I am not quite sure where exactly I am going with this.

Better leave it there and get the amour out and go fight some Orks 😜

Please find the prompt post here and head over to Di’s who is today’s prompt giver.

Linda got me… A #JusJoJan post

Looks like I can’t escape Linda somehow. On and off I am taking part in her #SoCS and had decided not to do #JusJoJan.

However, I am reposting old posts from my other blogs that don’t exist anymore and am preparing for “Love Is In Da Blog”. In a way it’s Linda’s “fault” I am doing it because she encouraged me way back in 2015. Thanks Linda, you rock!!!!

And then I saw her post that asked for prompts and I suggested a greyhound related one. Surely I can’t suggest a prompt and not take part?

Well, of course, I could but where is the fun in that?

So I inch myself back into… what? Being sociable? Accepting the fact that I just am all over the place?

Or maybe I b inch blog again?

Of course, the prompt “inch” could bring more saucy ideas up however, I’ve been told by the best husband (Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world to keep it clean 😁. The saucy stuff is for him and him only.

I could try and go all anagrammy on you but the only word that comes to mind is “chin”. Chins are not my forte my dears. Cin-Cin might be but that’s Italian and I don’t do Italian yet.

So where does that lead us? I have no idea what to jot about but it was fun anyway!!!

A last “Jot It” Stream of Consciousness Saturday with Love from me to you

2014 SoCS badge

No don’t worry I do not stop taking part in SoCS. It’s much too much fun to leave. But it’s the last day of “Just Jot It January” and as I have to work in the afternoon I have to be a little bit practical and connect the projects I take part in. I hope you forgive me.

Linda’s prompt for today’s SoCS is “scene/seen”. And I think I just skip it and do some pure, egotistic advertising.

You remember? I am going to do a blog hop for February and it’s all about love. Of course, there might be some inspiration from Linda’s last prompt at “Just Jot It January” which was “sex”.

Let’s talk about sex, baby” was one of my favourite songs a few years ago. Well, probably more some decades ago lol. It’s a song from “Salt’n Peppa” and the next line went: “Let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be. Let’s talk about sex”.

Even though I am a bit prudish in that area I consider it important to keep it in the open. We have a teenager in the house and a soon to be a teenager and it will be a topic sooner or later. But also in adult relationships, it’s important to talk about “the good things and the bad things that might be!”

I think good sex has a lot to do with communication. There is so much we assume but it might not always be the right thing.

Just Jot It January 2015

Your husband might have a sore back and is a bit careful while making love but it might look to you like you are not attractive to him anymore. It is far from it but it feels like it to you.

Only if you trust each other enough to communicate what is really going on and trusting each other to be honest will allow you to solve the wrong assumptions. Taboos do not help. They keep reality out and keeps people prisoner of other peoples values.

The taboo of speaking about sex has kept so many children from telling their parents or anyone whom they trust about being abused. It makes me so angry to hear today how many children were and are affected and that is one reason why I want to talk about LOVE in February. Because “Love is a battle field” and it is not only a romantic notion.

I am very grateful for now being in a very romantic and caring relationship but I have experienced the opposite as well. Writing about it and talking about it helps me to heal from those experiences and it would be great if it would help others as well.

And then there is one more reason why I want to talk about “LOVE” in February. This week I saw a documentary on CBBC about a transgender boy. For those who do not know what that means: it is a boy who was born in a girls body. The documentary showed his way of changing his body to the right gender but it also showed how much trans-gender people had to suffer who are much older than him. I had a transgender friend and I know a little about the struggle they have to go through. No one no matter how crazy they might seem should go through a struggle like this.

Well, looks like I used Linda’s prompt after all because I have seen a lot in my life and it is part of my creativity to fight for the happiness of all and to show how things are and might happen.

Well, don’t worry. There will be some romance in “LOVE Is In Da Blog” as well :-). I hope I can inspire you to take part.

And last but not least a big THANK YOU! to Linda for “Just Jot It January” and “Stream of Consciousness Saturday”. It has given me some great inspiration and a few blog posts I enjoy enormously. May your keyboard be blessed and the ideas never run out :-)!

This post takes part in Linda G. Hill’s “Just Jot It January” and “Stream of Consciousness Saturday

I have pondered…

….. and decided to go for it: From Sunday onwards this blog will host the “Love Is In Da Blog” blog hop. The topics and some of the prompts are already figured out.

Yesterday I wrote that it will be about poems and yes that is true but it will be open for all sorts of writing as long as it is about “Love”. Β It’s all we need as the Beatles put it, after all. πŸ™‚

Maybe it is not the most innovative blog hop for February but I think Valentine’s Day just shouts for it and writing a poem or a story about love is better than just thinking about what to give. And most of all it might be a distraction for all those who are missing someone or whom are single and dread THAT day and the month.

I am very excited and can’t wait to get going. Just need to make a pic to showcase it. Any ideas????

Just Jot It January Whatever Day

WARNING: This post takes part in Linda G. Hills Just Jot It January. Please do not follow the link and find more brilliant, funny, thought provoking and wonderful blog posts!!!!!

Oh boy, is the weather horrible out there!

This is what I tweeted just a moment ago:

Thank goodness I have already been out to do the shopping and there are lots of blog posts to write. The “Whatever” day by the way is not meant to be rude. It just means I have left my brain behind on my day off and can’t remember which of my JuJoJan days it is.

Maybe it is also because I am sad: There are just 3 JuJoJan days left and what am I going to do afterwards?????

Any suggestions?

Still no Jot today….

… as my love is waiting upstairs.

Just wanted to let you know that sometimes ~ just sometimes ~ I do more than just jotting: 818 more words for my fantasy novel and that after a hard days work. Am pretty proud of me and will go upstairs and reward myself (… and the husband πŸ˜‰ ).

Happy jotting to you all πŸ™‚

Just Jot It January 2015

I’ve added this post to Linda G. Hill’s Just Jot It January anyway :-)!
