donau

vor langer zeit
liess ich meine fuesse
in die donau haengen

ich wuchs
nicht so weit entfernt
auf und war mit der
schule dort

vielleicht
haben sie mir
von dir erzaehlt:

donau lachs

huchen

aber vielleicht auch nicht
komisch nur

dass ich anfing

I read @FrauPaulchen’s post this morning and wanted to translate it in my break at work but alas not everything works out as it was planned. Never mind.

So today it will be interesting because we’ll get a little fishy ;-):

( you can find the original German post here)

after so much wonderful everyday heroism we are moving on to more awards but we’ll wander into the animal kingdom.

the prompt for the #frapalymo-poem on 10. May 2015 is: “fish of the year 2015: the huchen.” would be nice, if you wouldn’t know what a huchen is either but you can find out here (there is a link in the german post to the german angler society which gave this fish an “award” but there is no english translation and my abilties do not stretch that far. I hope the wikipedia link will do. There is a sentence in the German post which leads to the german wikipedia link but I left this out here). what might inspire you with the topic “huchen” or if you’ll find entirely different ideas is of course again up to you. i am curious to find out about the huchen-interpretations (and will probably never forget this fish).

and the small print: please let me know via email or Twitter, if you take part. then i can post the link to your blog/poem on Twitter. or post the link in the comments under the daily prompt post on my blog. hashtag for Twitter is #frapalymo and I am @FrauPaulchen.

#342 of #365 A Prompt A Day For Bee & #frapalymo prompt 9. May 2015

gruesst mich jedesmal
egal, ob der vorherige
Kunde unfreundlich grummelte
und es so darstellte, als seist
Du doof.
Du schuettelst nur
Deinen Kopf ganz fuer Dich selber
und machst eine
mentale Notiz
alles beim
Mittagessen rauszulassen.
Fuer dies einfache Freundlichkeit
Sollst Du hochleben!

A pretty somber prompt yesterday but today back into the now and everyday life. @FrauPaulchen offers us this prompt today:
( you can find the original German post here)
many, many thanks for your so silent but moving and touching poems. what a prompt! that makes it difficult for the next…. and still: let’s go back to everyday life and its peculiarities
as the prompt for the poem on 9. May is: ” everyday heroes”. there are many around us: those special people, who do us good, who do others good but are not in the limelight and we want to give them some attention. let’s write a poem for the refuse assistants, postmen and women, teachers, care assistants and and and… you decide who your everyday hero is in this #frapalymo text.

and the small print: please let me know via email or Twitter, if you take part. then i can post the link to your blog/poem on Twitter. or post the link in the comments under the daily prompt post on my blog. hashtag for Twitter is #frapalymo and I am @FrauPaulchen.

Please head over to Helen Vahdati and her poem “Semper Fi
A cheers to check-out ladies and gentlemen
A cheerful ” hello there.”
Greets me every time
No matter the previous customer
Who grumbled at you
In harsh Words
Making out
You are stupid.
You shake your head
Just to yourself
And make a mental note
To let it all out at lunch
But I’m the next in line
And you start anew
For that simple friendliness
A cheers to you!

Willst Du wirklich KEINEN Krieg?

DENN

wenn Du KEINEN Krieg willst ~ mach keinen Krieg

DENN

wenn Du KEINEN Krieg willst ~ lehre keinen Krieg

DENN

wenn Du KEINEN Krieg willst ~ rede keinen Krieg

DENN

wenn Du KEINEN Krieg willst ~ denke keinen Krieg

ABER

WILLST Du wirklich KEINEN Krieg?

#341 of #365 A Prompt A Day For Bee & #frapalymo prompt 8. May 2015 ~ Silence

We remember in our poetic way and @FrauPaulchen wrote this prompt:

(You can find her German post here)

8. may 45 and 8. may 15. Between both days lay 70 years but there is no forgetting but remembering, commemoration and hopefully protesting. i thought a lot about which prompt i could use. I did not want an average prompt for this day but i also did not want to use something that could have felt as forced upon us.

that is why the prompt for the #frapalymo poem on 8. may is: “silence”. silence is not “not saying anything”. Silence is not loneliness. Silence is power without being overpowered or being without power. Whichever silence you want to lay in your poem, i will read them quietly and will listen to its echo inside of me.

the end

wars

So

We swore

How

Could we

fail so

Miserably?

This poem does not have a title but when I wrote it, it felt like a poem I have written some years ago should accompany it:

War or not ~ that is the question

Do you really NOT want war?

BECAUSE

If you do NOT want war ~ don’t do war

BECAUSE

If you do NOT want war ~ don’t teach war

BECAUSE

If you do NOT want war ~ don’t talk war

BECAUSE

If you do NOT want war ~ don’t think war.

BUT

DO you really NOT want war?

#340 of #365 A Prompt A Day For Bee & #frapalymo prompt 7. May 2015 ~ spring without spring

So exciting how much poetry can be in two pages of a book. Yesterday’s prompt was challenging but brilliant as well. So what has @FrauPaulchen in store for us today? Let her tell us:

(this is my translation of @FrauPaulchen’s post yesterday in German)

oh, how beautiful the prompt for the sixth #frapalymo poem was. it gave me so much joy and lead me different ways and gave me different words. i will certainly use this prompt more often! and how great to read your different texts which were different for you too! a pleasure!

for tomorrow we travel rather classical paths and have a look at the season. because I believe we never had a spring poem as task. but: of course, we won’t have it that easy. a small challenge will be there. let’s write a spring poem that is full of spring but without the word spring.

the prompt for the poem on 7. May is: “write a spring poem without the word spring in it”. i am sure your poems will breathe spring through every letter even without spring!

and the small print: please let me know via email or Twitter, if you take part. then i can post the link to your blog/poem on Twitter. or post the link in the comments under the daily prompt post on my blog. hashtag for Twitter is #frapalymo and I am @FrauPaulchen.
