Love Is In Da Blog 2020 Day 23 : A song about love in summer & Prompt for Day 24

Hello out there, you ok? I very much hope so and if not: Please go and rock and roll 😉

Sorry, for having kept my posts a little small recently. Today’s will be a little longer but the prompt is still not enormous 😉 .

Today’s prompt simply is: “A song about love in summer

I chose a singer who seems to be rather famous in Africa but from Jamaica. Her name is Denique Donte who started her career at 11 or 12 at the Jamaican National Festival Song Competitions at which she won several medals. Later she was offered a scholarship to Berklee School of Music in Boston but couldn’t take it up because of lack of funds. I would have thought a scholarship means you are supported but am not sure how it works for students from abroad.

However, she found mentors and management in Jamaica and forged a career in pop music. Yes, Jamaica is more famous for reggae but surely there are Jamaican’s who like other music too? Well, Denique does and her song “Summer Love” reminds me a lot of the pop songs in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Light like a summer love this song is what I call “Happy Music”. That is because it just makes you hum and dance a little… Please enjoy Denique and “Summer Love”!
