Blast from the Past: New Types of Selfie

November 2018

I posted this first time in June 2014 on my old blog but it still makes me chuckle…

June 2014

A few days ago I had to laugh when BBC breakfast spoke about some new words that have been invented. The funniest, in my opinion, was the β€œfelfie” which is a selfie made by a farmer.

Now I have no idea why such a selfie needs an extra word. Maybe it helps the poor sods to get a girlfriend or wife. Who knows.

Choosing a picture today

Looking at my pictures today and wondering which one I could use for this post I ended up on one of the rare ones I make. I am not too much a fan of having pictures of myself. To be honest, I am not too much a fan of having anyone’s pictures on the internet.

Not a fan of selfies

It seems to me quite dangerous for one when it is children with all those paedophiles around for another because people make all sorts of nasty things with it. So I rather use pictures of objects or landscapes than people.

Sometimes though I make one myself

But every so often I make one of myself. I took this one in winter when we went back to Happisburgh beach for the first time after the storms. It was a hard time for me as some of my demons had re-emerged over Christmas and my mental health was deeply impacted.

The beach a good place to make one

Going to the beach was very soothing though. I always feel happy and relaxed when I am at the beach and the sea no matter my mental state. Even better for me now that I live so close to the sea. That is one of my teenage dreams come true. Today I started to wonder though if you could call this a β€œbelfie”

  1. Selfie and the others are funny sounding words, aren’t they! I’m with you about not posting people’s photos on the internet, and especially children. I do one of myself once in awhile, but that’s it (besides the one gravatar photo)
I like your selfie photo! πŸ™‚

    • Thank you very much. It is a old blog post but a new “belfie” 😜 and yes selfie, felfie and belfie sound funny. That is one thing that was difficult for me for a long time in English: abbreviations. I still ask a lot what does this and that mean. And I think it’s a little disturbing when ppl post pictures of their children. It’s nice to share but there should be limits really. But each to their own πŸ™‹
