Positive Affirmations, Mirror Work and the end of another Music Monday Blog Party

It’s over my dear readers, and I hope you had some time to celebrate yourself and to listen to some great music.

It’s been an honour to celebrate with Emilia from My Inner MishMash, and you can find her post here.

And how have I celebrated?

On Monday I did something rather British 😉 .

The best husband (Jeremy Clarkson voice) in the world had made some delicious scones at the weekend, and we had some left. So I made myself one with butter and jam with a good cup of tea and sat down to ponder how far I have come, and to celebrate this with my spiritual guides.

I also am experimenting with Luise Hay’s mirror work. It’s basically using positive affirmations but saying them to yourself in the mirror. According to her theory, it works faster doing it this way. I am mainly working with positive affirmations concerning my low-self esteem and the ability to receive help. It’s not a problem for me to give to others, however, receiving is a totally different kettle of fish.

I am trying out the laws of attraction and one theory is that energy needs to flow freely. The energy of giving and taking is interrupted though if you do not feel worthy to receive help in any form because you give but do not let something come back to you. That, of course, is a simplified version of it. You do have to do your part to get where you want to get. I find that idea quite compelling. So I figured it can’t hurt to try it out and change my way of thinking.

Music wise I am repeating myself I am afraid. But this song just keeps me going and it features one of my favourite female musicians at the moment: Laura Marling. I first stumbled over her via YouTube and her song “All My Rage” which inspired a poem somewhere in 2012. I hope you enjoy it and maybe you find some time to celebrate yourself and your achievements. Because you are worth it 🙂

The Water

Lyrics thanks to Genius.com

All that I have is a river
The river is always my home
Lord, take me away
For I just cannot stay
Or I’ll sink in my skin and my bones

The water sustains me without even trying
The water can’t drown me, I’m done
With my dying

Please help me build a small boat
One that’ll ride on the flow
Where the river runs deep
And the larger fish creep
I’m glad of what keeps me afloat

The water sustains me without even trying
The water can’t drown me, I’m done
With my dying

Now deeper the water I sail
And faster the current I’m in
That each night brings the stars

And the song in my heart
Is a tune for the journeyman’s tale

The water sustains me without even trying
The water can’t drown me, I’m done
With my dying

Now the land that I knew is a dream
And the line on the distance grows faint
So wide is my river, the horizon a sliver
The artist has run out of paint

Where the blue of the sea meets the sky
And the big yellow sun leads me home
I’m everywhere now, the way is a vow
To the wind of each breath by and by

The water sustains me without even trying
The water can’t drown me, I’m done
With my dying

  1. Mmm scones, I had them once in my life and still relish that memory. 😀 Such a yummy thing. That mirror work thing sounds very interesting. I definitely can relate to having issues with receiving help because of low self esteem, sounds too familiar. 😀 I like Laura Marling, she has a lot of great lyrics. It was a great pleasure for me to take part in your Music Monday Blog Party, I enjoyed it a lot. 🙂

    • I can send you a recipe. They are really easy to make and you can have them every day if you like 😊. It’s probably many in our society who are happy to help but not to receive help. It’s something we can definitely turn around. Am so glad you like this little blog party. I will advertise a little more for it soon. Such a pleasure to have you take part!!!!
