#Music Monday ~ Cranberries ~ Zombie

Two weeks ago on Monday Dolores O’Riordan iconic singer and songwriter of the Cranberries passed away. By the time I am writing this post I have no information yet about how she died. This post is dedicated to her and her family and friends who so suddenly lost a loved one. RIP Dolores.

She was in London to record a cover version of one of my favourite songs of the Cranberries: “Zombie”. So I decided to post it on today’s Music Monday.

Zombie ~ Cranberries

Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence, caused such silence
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it’s not me
It’s not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are crying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Another mother’s breaking
Heart is taking over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken
It’s the same old theme
Since nineteen-sixteen
In your head, in your head, they’re still fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What’s in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie

This song came into being because two children died when IRA bombs exploded in 1993. Dolores O’riordan was deeply affected by the tragedy and wrote the song about it. You can read more here on the BBC homepage.
