#351 of #365 A Prompt A Day For Bee & #frapalymo 18th May 2015 ~ Night is like a silent sea

I loved yesterdays prompt as it taught me a little about a country I have heard quite often of but never really learned anything about. And I just love the native name for Greenland: Kalaallit Nunaat. Sounds poetic in itself :-).

Today @FrauPaulchen leads us to a German poet and gives us a first line from one of his poems. That will be interesting. But here is the prompt:

(you can find the original German post here)

we all might have our next holiday in Greenland – our poems would be a great addition to all travel guides and holiday portals…!

the prompt for the #frapalymo poem on may 18th will be rather classical: “the first line is given to you: night is like a silent sea”. we want to start into our poem with the first line “night is like a silent sea” from the poem “the night-flower“* by joseph von eichendorff and i am curious what sort of day charm our “night-flowers” which all start from the same line will bring us!ย ย

ย and the small print: please let me know via email or Twitter, if you take part. then i can post the link to your blog/poem on Twitter. or post the link in the comments under the daily prompt post on my blog. hashtag for Twitter isย #frapalymoย and I amย @FrauPaulchen.

* this is a link to an un-official translation of the poem. Unfortunately, it does not bring over the wonderful rhythm Eichendorffs poem has in German even though the words are entirely correct.

Suggestions for taking part in the English version of #frapalymo
1. read translation of @FrauPaulchen’s prompt here on Bee’s blog
2. write your English (German if you can/want to) poem on your blog and tag it with “English #frapalymo”
3. use the “English #frapalymo” picture if you want to
4. set a link to the translated prompt here on Bee’s blog
5. visit other links posted here and if you want to/can those posted with the hashtag #fapalymo on Twitter
6. The Bee will post your link to the German #frapalymo and translate for you if you want to
It already has become a multi-country/language project! Thanks!!!!!
