“Love Is In Da Blog” ~ Mothers

Description for visually impaired readers: Differently coloured canopy of three trees on left with black writing in middle: Love Is In Da Blog 2015

I believe last week was a difficult one for some. (Thanks for taking part anyway. I appreciate that a lot and you know who you are :-)). This week will be difficult for me as I am estranged from the family I was born into. And my mother passed away when I was not even 13 years old.

32 years this August. “Sometimes I feel like a motherless child” comes to mind but to be honest I have never been “motherless”. First of all my mother still lives in me. According to family, I am the spitting image of my mother not only looks-wise but also temperament-wise: both Scorpio, both passionate, both ginger! She was the one who made me proud of the colour of my hair:

She was already pretty ill (cancer) and often bound to bed. But she must have sensed that something was wrong with me as she asked me. After a while, I told her that I was bullied because of the colour of my hair. She said to me: ” They soon will be jealous and dye their hair our colour. You will save that money!” She made me laugh but a little later it was exactly as she predicted. I bet she must have gone through the same “cr..” but she left me a great legacy with these little sentence. I am ginger and proud today!

But there are other “mothers” who have taken good care of me throughout the years: my grandmother whom I spent a lot of time with when I was younger. My first step-mother whom I fought with as a teenager but her rules showed me that she loved me and still does. I owe her my love for English and Great Britain and so much more.

My first and my second mother-in-law: Both women dared to share their painful experiences with me and with that supported me to learn I can live with my own difficulties. There are several friends who have shown me they cared, and even if I sometimes might come across as detached I deeply care for them too. And there have been two therapists who cared to listen and take me seriously. There is my god-mother who has been there for me when it was really difficult and appreciate all she has done for me.

I bet there are women in your life who have been caring and giving towards you and with that represent the mothering-loving-aspect. This post is dedicated to all of them: Birth-mothers, step-mothers, mothers-in-law, aunts, friends, therapists, doctors, bosses…. you name them.

This prompt is a free one: Chose whichever form suits you but show some love to the mothers in your life.

Now my darlings: go, create and have lots of fun!
